Important Voting Issue

Help.

I started making a tumbling blocks quilt, and I have many layout options to choose from. While my sister-in-law's vote will weigh a lot because it is for her baby, I think there might be enough fabric left over to make one for me, too. So I must ask for thoughts, etc. from the peanut gallery, since I am hopelessly design challenged.
Number 1
Number 2
Number 3
Number 4
Or Number 5

At the moment, I am torn between 2 and 3.

It's best to take a class on this one or get the full instruction manual, but if you want some basic instructions, you can look at this website. There is also a link to the lady's site so you can buy the book if you want. The glorious thing about this method is that there are no Y seams. It is a strip method. Woohoo!

Wow. Amazing. I think I like #2 best. But they are all interesting to look at!

Strip quilting is the most wonderful kind of quilting in the world! I really like #3... and I'm off to go look at that pattern!

I vote for #1 for the baby and #2 for you.

Reasons why: for a baby, what you want is stimulation. This particular design shows the progression of a color wheel on a smaller scale, which might be easier for a baby to focus on. Even at a very young age, a child will see those colors and take in that color progression and form a bit of logic from that smaller, easier design.

#2 for you because the design is more pleasing to the eye. The progression is longer, and a diametric design is generally more pleasing to an adult, more sophisticated taste.

Does that make sense, Jenn?

I like #2, but there is also something very appealing for me about #4. Maybe my ingrained belief that vertical stripes make you look thinnner? LOL! Any one that you choose will be beautiful. Can't wait to see the results.

I'm for 1 or 3 :)

Number 3 is infinitely MORE interesting than the others - I love them all jumbled up...but, that being said, any of them would sew up into an absolutely darling quilt!! Love the gospel/pregnancy analogies....so,so true! Hooter Hider in the mail to you today!
