Motherhood

I'd like to thank Garth Brooks for writing Rodeo. I was just thinking, wouldn't the song be better if it were about motherhood?

Her eyes are dull and restless
Her wounds have almost healed
And she'd give half of Texas
Just to cut down on the squeals
She knows it's only down the road, and
She knows they're gonna go
Well it ain't no picnic in the back yard,
It's the city park, and it's cold!

Well it's snot and blood
It's barf and mud
It's the roar of her kids in the crowd
It's the white in her knuckles
The seat belts are buckled
As she drives the kids downtown.
It's shoes and snacks,
It's baseball caps.
It's swings and "Let it go."
It's the sun, wind, and rain
And the joy and the pain
And when the kids scream too much, we go.

She does her best to clothe them
When the sunshine comes to call
But their need for nakedness controls them
And her back's against the wall
And it's "So long kids, I'll be debriefing,"
When it's time for Dad to come home.
You know the kids want their Daddy,
Like she wants her three minutes alone.

Well it's snot and blood
It's barf and mud
It's the roar of kids in a crowd.
It's the white in her knuckles
The seat belts are buckled
As she drives those kids down town.
It's shoes and snacks,
It's cowboy hats
It's swings and "Let it go."
It's the wind and the rain
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing the mother's load.

It'll drive a mother crazy
It'll drive the kids insane
And she'll sell off everything she owns
to buy chocolate to keep her sane.
And a happy home, and children's broken bones
Are all she'll have to show
For all the years that she spent facin'
This thing they call the mother's load.

Well it's snot and blood
It's barf and mud
It's the roar of her kids in church.
It's the white in her knuckles
The boys' knees buckle
As the girls try to tie them down.
It's books and fruit snacks,
It's grasping at running-away backs,
It's screams of "Let your sister go!"
It's the sun and the rain
And the joy and the pain
And when naptime calls our names, we go!

Thank you! You said it better than I ever could have. Could you replace "poo" for mud a few times? That would describe my life just perfectly! Love it.

I just happened on to your blog and I am amazed! You are so talented and I love the song! It sure would sell better than "Rodeo" no doubt about it.
