Ooey Gooey Butter Cake

I made this delicious dessert this weekend. The photo above constitutes what is left after the Easter festivities. I made the basic recipe, and it was fabulous. I also tried it with a chocolate cake mix and toffee bits last week. Thanks Paula Deen!

And on a totally unrelated note: What is up with giving a pregnant woman two teaching assignments at church five weeks before delivery? Don't get me wrong. I love to teach. But I'm anticipating a need for some serious substitution starting sometime in April.

And PS: On another totally unrelated note, it's about time this happened. Go Kym Worthy! Your name is Dickensian.

Mmmm...it looks delicious! I think I'll have to try it out.

Our Easter festivities included more snow to add to the foot we had gotten a day before. Jon sang a rousing rendition of "I'm Dreaming of a White Easter..."

And yes, you should boycott your teaching responsibilities...5 weeks, huh?

Ok, I made the chocolate gooey butter cake a couple of years ago and it didn't look like that. Which tells me that I must have done something wrong. Maybe I didn't cook it long enough.

It's surprising that they would expect a woman with a new baby and a toddler to teach. Everybody knows you get no sleep for 6-12 months. But adding a couple of teaching assignments?? That's insane.

Yep, 4 weeks and 5 days left til I'm due, but who's counting?

The only suggestion I can think of for the cake is that Paula recommends waiting until your oven is fully heated to put things in unless a recipe suggests otherwise. So I waited until my oven beeped to put the cake in. I was very happy with the results.

Oh WOW! That cake looks and sounds delicious! I am going to have to try it! Thanks!

They should NOT be giving you any assignments or callings at church. Don't they know the last 6 weeks you are needing to rest?

Good luck!

I'm sitting here at the computer, really feeling like I need a sugary snack, so sad that all of the Easter candy is gone, and then I pull up this picture of the remaining pieces of your yummy cake.
My stomach just rumbled.

When my cousin was 38 weeks pregnant, she was scheduled to speak in church.
She went into labor Saturday night, and had the baby in the morning.
Apparently she really wanted to get out of speaking.
Think about it;0)
