Conversation With Two-Year-Old

Me: "Grace, when are you going to get potty trained?"
Grace: "Chugga chugga choo choo."

(Do I really have to do this? Can't she just wake up one beautiful glorious morning and politely say, "May I begin wearing big-girl undies now, please?")

Oh man, I don't envy you. I hear it's tough. I was just talking with a friend this weekend who has a 3 1/2 year old son who is still not potty trained and she's going crazy. Good luck! Be sure to take notes and share with us all what works!

Ah... potty training. I wish you the best of luck! And may I just say, we bribed all of our kids during potty training. And I don't regret it. Not one bit!!

Good luck! I don't think she will just decide, but I have nothing against a little bribing to get them to try. I had a friend who gave her daughter one smartie to sit on the potty and one smartie when she went potty. Needless to say, she controlled her daughter's bathroom cycle, but it worked!

If she does wake up one morning and say that, you will be the luckiest Mom EVER! I really hate the potty training ordeal:(

it obvioulsy takes work, but eventually it will click and she will be ready. it took eliza quite a while to finally go in the potty. she loved to sit and have me read to her. but when she finally went it was a great day!

I totally relate. Weston is in the same boat. He was potty trained for about a day and a half and then he just lost interest and is anti-Elmo-Potty now. Sigh. I need the book called 'How to Motivate your Toddler to do Exactly what you Want instead of that thing he's doing now'.
